Apartment, London E2

A simple and low cost renovation of an apartment in East London. The simple and efficient plan of this 1960's flat is maintained whilst opening up the kitchen to the living space. A new kitchen crafted in reclaimed spruce multi-ply board and off-white splash-back tiles creates a simple palette which compliments the new oak flooring and white walls to make it feel part of the living room and not too distinctly "kitchen-like." Stainless steel is used throughout, for taps, handles and counter tops which relate to the original galvanised steel window frames. A large deep green woollen curtain covers an entire wall giving the living room a distinct and homely character at night. In the bedroom, light sage coloured joinery and linings wrap around the room, giving it a calming and intimate character.
