Stalloom, LFA London

The idea is for a temporary bench that reflects the history of the Petticoat Lane in Spitalfields and it’s transition from pre-industrial fabric manufacture to point of sale. From the ‘four poster’ looms of the Huguenot Weavers to the portable market stalls used in recent times.

The bench has been designed to accommodate a variety of users and uses which challenge the more traditional public bench - Stalloom encourages sitting, lounging and inhabiting. The flexible seating ‘hammock’ provides a soft and more comfortable approach encouraging interaction between a variety of people.

Status: Competition.
